The 16th edition of the Parker’s Heritage Collection consists of 67% 13-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that has been double-barreled and then blended post aging with 33% 15-year-old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. The 13-year-old Bourbon was aged on the 5th-7th floors of Rickhouse Q and was then re-barreled in new American white oak barrels with a level 3 char for 4 weeks. Then, it was later blended with 15-year-old Bourbon aged on the 2nd and 5th floors of Rickhouse II. The double barreling of the 13-year-old Bourbon helped to bring out even more oak and spice notes from the barrel, while later bending it with older bourbon helped to create a unique, bold, and balanced flavor profile. At bottling, the liquid was uncut and non-chill filtered to preserve the complex flavors of this truly unique Bourbon.

Released in Fall 2013 as an offering from Buffalo Trace Distillery’s Antique Collection line-up of rare and highly collectible whiskey bourbons, 2013 George T Stagg Straight bourbon is comprised of a mash bill containing an undisclosed percentage of corn, rye, and malted barley and is aged for 15 + years in #4 char casks with a barrel finish strength of 128.2% proof. With a limited batch of just 157 barrels, 2013 G. T Stagg straight bourbon is a limited-run edition to this annual release series. As the latest iteration of its acclaimed Collaborative series, The Bardstown Bourbon Company’s newest release brings together bourbon and Jamaican rum in partnership with Plantation Rum. This release features a 10-year-old Tennessee Bourbon finished for 22 months in Plantation Rum barrels. 

Per the brand, the resulting dram is sweet and spicy on the nose with orange peel, allspice and cinnamon that highlights banana bread with rich caramel. On the palate, apple crisp and molasses lead to a balanced finish of fruit and spice, rounding out this luxurious summer sipper that combines the best charastics of bourbon and rum.

Plantation rum, from the West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, also pulls from distilleries in Jamaica, Trinidad, Peru, and Fiji where the rum is distilled and aged. The rum is then blended and finished by Maison Ferrand, a premiere Cognac maker in France. Their releases highlight the way terroir informs rum’s flavor and complexity.
